Earlier this week, it was reported that 21-year-old rap singer, Juice Wrld, had passed away after suffering a fatal seizure. The rapper, who was widely known for his song titled “Lucid Dreams”, consistently referenced his issues with drug abuse in his music.
Over the last couple of days, various reports confirmed that the singer was drinking lean and taking percocets before his death. Many fans on twitter expressed their frustration over the popularity of these drugs despite its devastating consequences.
Lean, which is a codeine infused drink, has been known to cause seizures in addicts. Lil Wayne, another famous rapper who is known for his addiction to lean, suffered from near fatal seizures over the last couple of years.
However, it is unknown whether his abuse of the addictive drink is attributed to the cause of the seizures.
Unfortunately, the exact cause of many seizures is difficult to discern. There are many environmental and genetic factors that contribute to the appearance of a seizure.
For this reason, it is complicated to cite the drugs as a direct cause for the death of Juice Wrld.
Regardlessly, lean addiction has severe life threatening consequences. The drink contains promethazine, a depressant of the central nervous system, and codeine, which is a depressant of the respiratory system. Overdosing lean can cause one to stop breathing and have severe brain damage.
